Seth Bassingthwaite, CMI

Seth is the founder of Southcrest Consulting. He has represented many of the country’s largest taxpayers before state and local taxing authorities. Seth has personally represented taxpayers in almost every state. With over 20 years of experience, he has been able to obtain several key victories on technical issues during administrative hearings. Additionally, Seth has successfully negotiated large settlements on behalf of his clients.
Seth has created a culture at Southcrest Consulting with a focus on technical competence, innovative solutions, and passionate representation. Seth is a frequent speaker on sales tax matters and regularly provides sales tax training to the country’s top companies.
Drew Simek, CMI
President of Client Operations
Drew is based in the Chicago office and has over fifteen years of experience providing clients with state and local sales tax and use tax services. Drew is a multistate tax professional and has worked with clients in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, retail, healthcare, printing, transportation and financial services. Drew has advised clients on audit defense, managed audits, refund reviews, voluntary disclosures, nexus analyses, taxability research, due diligence and reserve analyses (FAS5). Drew is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, a Certified Member of the Institute (CMI) in sales tax and serves on the CMI sales tax committee. Drew is also a member of the Chicago Tax Club and the Taxpayers’ Federation of Illinois.
